The Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants have one of the longest-standing rivalries in the NFL.

Nick Sirianni Net Worth: How big is his salary as the Philadelphia Eagles coach? | Marca

With Philadelphia being so close to New Jersey, there’s a lot of overlap between the two fanbases in the region.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has been known to ruffle feathers from time to time, and he admits that he can’t help himself when dealing with more boisterous fans of his division rival.

“You know, sometimes you see Giants fans around here, being so close,” Sirianni began.

“They give me a good ‘Hey, go Giants.” I’d typically let it go, but if the guy gets me good enough I’ll usually say ‘Hey, we got your best player’,” the head coach said with a smile.

The player in question? Running back Saquon Barkley, who made his way from the Giants to the Eagles in free agency this year.

Barkley, who played at Penn State in college, said that the Giants never offered him a new deal in order to attempt to keep him.

“Let me educate some of you fans here… I can’t bail or become a traitor if I never got an offer to come back,” he said to a Giants fan who said he “bailed” by leaving New York and signing with a division rival.

“so I went to the organization I felt that was the best and after already being here for a month man I’m excited to be a eagle ! Go birds.”

Barkley will now face his former team twice a year, and it will be interesting to see how he is received in his first game back in MetLife Stadium.

The Eagles are set to visit the Giants on October 20, and while Sirianni is unlikely to get a warm welcome, we’ll see how things go for Barkley in his first visit as an Eagle.
