Henry Cavill’s Easiest Payday: Earned a Whopping $20,000 Per Second in 1 of the Worst DC Movies Ever
Henry Cavill is not returning as Superman because he didn’t fit with James Gunn’s new plans following the DC Universe relaunch.
Henry Cavill as Superman
So, when he announced his return as Superman, many people were elated to see him on screen once again. And for that little screen presence, the studio paid the former Superman through the nose.
Even though it was less than what he received in The Witcher, the point here to note is that the cameo was only 12-13 seconds long. But on the other hand, it also questions Cavill’s future at DCU. So, he will only receive cameos now?

Henry Cavill with Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam
Henry Cavill was paid $400,000 per episode in The Witcher. So, the series’ season 1 consists of 8 episodes, bought him slightly more than $3 million. Season 2 brought Cavill double that amount as his paycheck was $1 million per episode, giving him a total of $8M.
Well, it’s not clear how much he earned for season 3, but it would not be wrong to say that he would have received more than he got in the previous two seasons.
But for the return of Superman, he was paid big bucks. The actor got $250,000 for his cameo in Black Adam and another $250,000 in Flash. It was confirmed by Umberto Gonzalez, the editor-in-chief of Heroic Hollywood tweet, which reads:
“Cavill got paid $250k for the cameo in Black Adam and another $250k for the now deleted Clark Kent scene at the end of The Flash.”
Now, comparing his pay as Superman for Black Adam and The Flash ($500k) with The Witcher, it was definitely peanuts — but that was a huge sum because he was paid 250k for only 12-13 seconds of cameo. So, technically, it’s much higher than what he received for performing the whole Witcher series.
That’s cool. But now what? The biggest uphill climb for Cavill is he’s left with nothing — as he will never be seen as Superman again, which is his biggest bow out.
The Future of Henry Cavill in DC niverse After He Left The Witcher
James Gunn and Henry Cavill
Unfortunately, Cavill is not returning for The Witcher season 4 ( announced in October 2022). Cavill would be leaving the fantasy series forever, and the role of Geralt would be recast, with Liam Hemsworth taking on the character.
According to Deadline, Cavill had only made a “short-term deal” for The Witcher. After doing three seasons in The Witcher, it was simply time for him to move on because The Cold Light of Day actor has to juggle a lot of big projects due to Witcher’s hefty production schedule.
While it’s already confirmed that he’ll not return as Geralt and Man of Steel, Gunn revealed he has talked to Cavill about other non-Superman DC roles. The studio executive of DCU said:
“We just had a great meeting with Henry, and we’re big fans, and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”
Despite his surprising departure, Gunn revealed he has started writing a new Superman movie that will follow the character during an earlier part of his life.
Henry Cavill’s final appearance as Superman can be seen in Black Adam, which is now available on Amazon Prime Video.
