Will Cristiano Ronaldo stay at Al Nassr? Fresh reports emerge on Portuguese star’s contract status
Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in December 2022 on a free transfer after an unsuccessful 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign, mutually terminating his contract with Manchester United. The Portuguese star has since then scored 64 goals and registered 17 assists across 71 appearances for Al Nassr.
However, with his contract expiring in June 2025, a report from journalist Nicolo Schira has emerged of Al Nassr starting discussions about Ronaldo’s contract extension.
The 39-year-old wants to represent Portugal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup is the highest men’s goal-scorer with 903 career goals, including 132 for his national team.
Cristiano Ronaldo is in sublime form this season, bagging siix goals and two assists, with four coming in the Saudi Pro League. His impact at the outfit is a major reason for the club reportedly discussing a contract renewal before the end of this season.
Moreover, he’s unlikely to sign for anither club at this stage of his career. He recently admitted in an interview to NOW that he wishes to call it a day while af Al Nassr. He said:
“I don’t know if I will retire soon, in two or three years … but probably I will retire here at Al-Nassr. I’m very happy at this club. I feel good in this country too.
“I’m happy to play in Saudi Arabia, and I want to continue. When I leave the national team, I won’t tell anyone in advance, and it will be a very spontaneous decision on my part but also a very well thought-out one.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s career so far
A controversial interview in 2022 with Birtish broadcaster Piers Morgan led to the club terminating his contract just before the FIFA World Cup. Now, at Al Nassr, Ronaldo is still going strong, marking the first time he signed for a club as a free agent.
Ronaldo failed to score in five games at Euro 2024, but manager Roberto Martinez has kept his faith on the star. Ronaldo scored against Scotland and Croatia in the last two Nation League games in September and is expected to start against Poland on October 12.
