It’s been a long time since Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were an item.

So long, that he’s currently navigating the (alleged) break down of his second marriage, this time to Jennifer Lopez.

Garner has also refused to comment on Affleck and Lopez’s supposed divorce, which has been reported on for months despite the couple’s refusal to address the rumors.

While Garner may be staying silent, she’s apparently been a big source of support for Affleck, with a new report claiming the actress still feels a sense of responsibility for her ex-husband.

“People close to Ben have been concerned about him for some time. He’s in a bad place and has been isolating,” a source said to Life & Style. “Jen’s opening up to friends like never before about it, explaining why she’s been so involved lately and is often seen visiting Ben. She wants to finally share her side of the story.”

“Jen definitely had doubts that Ben and J. Lo would work out. But she says her biggest concern is Ben spiraling worse than before. She won’t let that happen,” they continued. “Jen’s moved on from Ben as a husband, but because of the children they share. she’ll always feel responsible for him.”

Ben’s Sobriety Could Be At Risk

There have been questions over Ben’s sobriety amid his alleged divorce from J.Lo. The actor has been open about his struggles in the past, admitting drinking and gambling factored into his divorce from Garner.

Perez Hilton even floated the theory that Affleck may have relapsed, and he’s seeking treatment apartment from his wife, providing an alternative to rumors that he and Lopez are selling their mega mansion.

Garner has been supportive of Affleck’s attempts to stay sober, even despite their divorce. Following their break-up (and before his marriage to Lopez), Garner was seen driving him to rehab, showing the lengths she’ll go despite their tumultuous history. The exes continue to co-parent their three kids and put on a united front.

Garner May Want Affleck To Avoid A Divorce

There have been reports that Garner is hopeful Affleck and Lopez will work things out. She may even be supporting a reconciliation.

“She fully supports their relationship and wants nothing more than for him to be happy,” a source claimed to Page Six .

“She has dropped everything to make sure Ben doesn’t spiral out of control again. At the end of the day, Ben is still the father of their children, and she will help him however she can.,” the insider went on. “If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity. He feels like the last two years was just a fever dream, and he’s come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work.”

For now, it remains unclear if Affleck and Lopez are officially divorcing.
