Life is looking rough for Det. Elliot Stabler in Season 5 of Law & Order: Organized Crime.
The lead detective in the NYPD’s Organized Crime Control Bureau is seen clinging to life in a hospital bed in a new trailer released Wednesday for the upcoming season of the drama series.
And it’s far from the only disturbing scene that lies ahead.
The trailer begins with Stabler (Christopher Meloni) in a church confessional, telling a priest, “Bless me father for I have sinned. I have promised people that I would save them… but I have not been keeping my word… I’m gonna do everything I can to stop it.” Spliced into the confessional scenes are images of a young man falling off the roof of a building.

What does the Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 trailer show?
A vehicle in flames flashes on the screen in the trailer, and in a separate scene, viewers see Sgt. Ayanna Bell (Danielle Moné Truitt) tell Stabler, “I need you to go undercover.” Viewers also get a glimpse of Stabler’s son Eli in his NYPD uniform, as his dad tells him, “Eli, it’s been an honor to watch you to grow up to be the man that you are today.”
Flashes of gun shots, explosions, at least two different victims lying on the floor and ground, and the revelation of an “outbreak of serial murders” are also shown. And, as Bell says, “Jet’s in trouble,” referring to Det. Jet Slootmaekers (Ainsley Seiger).
The most disturbing Season 5 scenes show Stabler in the driver’s seat of a vehicle as a truck crashes into his. Viewers then see Stabler in a hospital bed with tubes coming out of his nose as his mother pleads, “Do not make me bury you.”

The show follows the detectives of the Organized Crime Control Bureau as they take on New York City’s most vicious and violent criminal syndicates. In addition to Meloni, Truitt, and Seiger, the show also stars Rick Gonzalez as Det. Bobby Reyes and Dean Norris as Stabler’s brother Randall.
For Organized Crime, Meloni reprised the role of Stabler that he originated on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Organized Crime features Meloni back in New York after a decade abroad.
Season 5 promises to feature cross-border smuggling, high-tech domestic terrorism, and a crime family set on getting even with Stabler for acts he carried out while in Rome.
