Jesus Navas officially retires after Real Madrid
Jesus Navas played his final game as a substitute for Sevilla against Real Madrid. The 39-year-old midfielder will officially retire when his contract with Sevilla expires on 31 December.
The Sevilla captain made his debut in November 2003 and has won four Europa League titles with the club. He was also part of the Spain squad that won the 2010 World Cup, Euro 2012 and Euro 2024.
Jesus Navas was greeted by a guard of honour from both Sevilla and Real Madrid players before the match at the Bernabeu. Real Madrid captain Luka Modric also presented Navas with a commemorative shirt.
The 39-year-old midfielder came on as a second-half substitute. He was applauded by Real Madrid fans as he entered the pitch. In the end, Sevilla lost 2-4 on the day Jesus Navas said goodbye to his football career.
Jesus Navas played 705 times for Sevilla over 18 seasons. He also played for Man City for 4 years, playing 183 times from 2013 to 2017.
Jesus Navas won 15 titles in his illustrious career. He is the Spanish player with the most titles with 4 championships, including the 2023 Nations League. In addition, Jesus Navas is also the most successful player in Sevilla’s history with 8 major and minor titles with the club.
