'People have overhyped this kid': Barca fan sparks debate by claiming Fati was 'more entertaining' to watch than Yamal

A Barcelona fan on Reddit has started a debate about Ansu Fati and Lamine Yamal after claiming that the former was a more entertaining player to watch.

“Hold on hold on. I get it. Yamal is more consistent and has wider functionality than Fati had. But… For some reason, it was more entertaining to watch Fati, he was like a bullet: quick, precise and lethal.

“Also, he had a couple of clutch moments. Overall, I think if hadn’t had those injuries he would become number 10’s successor. The reason I post this is that, in my opinion, some people are overhyped with this kid.

“I mean he’s good, but still 17, maybe don’t consider him “the best in the squad and club legend in the future” right now?! Man I wish Fati came back at least with the half he had before all these injuries.”

There were understandably quite a few fans in his replies who disagreed with his assessment.

Necam77: “Your opinion is valid, Fati was more like scoring goals, first touch and quick movement but Yamal is a better dribbler, has amazing assists, and better passing, whenever he is on the ball something can happen whenever he is 40 meters away from the goal or in the box. I personally more like Yamal.”

MartaL: “Different players. Fati is/was a goal machine, a true scorer, and Lamine is mainly an assistant according to his numbers. I would love to see Fati as a 9 instead of an LW since he’s less explosive now, and we would see how much these two could work together.”

Jay: “Lamine is way more fun to watch because Lamine is very intelligent. His actions always make sense. I feel like Lamine is way better than Fati ever was and I’ve been saying this before he won the Euros.

“Fati played with Messi which made it more fun. But individually I would appreciate a player like Lamine way more. Fati was making it a big fat show while lamine yamal is a team player.”
