Adam Driver. Sabrina Carpenter. Tony Hale. Leighton Meester. Zoe Saldaña. Jeremy Allen White. What do all these names have in common? They’ve all appeared as guest stars on the long-running procedural Law & Order, which was given a special dedication at the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.

The filmed segment was presented by Law & Order: SVU star and producer Mariska Hargitay, who began by referring to the show’s guest stars as “an elite squad” within the television industry. The segment continued with various clips of Law & Order‘s massive slate of guest stars across three decades, including Bradley Cooper, Viola Davis, David Harbour, Ebon Moss-Bacharach, Sarah Paulson, Keke Palmer, Jennifer Garner, Jane Krakowski, Colman Domingo, Kerry Washington, Sebastian Stan, Sam Rockwell, Elizabeth Banks, Pedro Pascal, Elle Fanning, and many, many more.

Guest stars Liza Colón-Zayas and Tony Hale also provided some testimonials about their Law & Order experience throughout the segment. Colón-Zayas noted that she “played five different characters in six episodes” as a guest star, while Hale mistakenly thought he’d only starred in one episode (he had actually performed in two). Colón-Zayas also shared that she’s discovered two bodies on the show, describing it as “so satisfying.” Hale, on the other hand, thinks he got cast in Law & Order because he gives “really good trauma face.”

Given Law & Order‘s New York-based locale, the guest starring role often serves as a bridge to the television industry for budding theater actors, like Domingo, Paulson, and Colón-Zayas. Several of the actors depicted in the segment were much younger at the time of filming than when their breakouts occurred, especially child actors Tyler James Williams and the aforementioned Carpenter, Meester, and Fanning. With Law & Order: Special Victims Unit currently in its 26th season and running strong, tomorrow’s future stars are still getting their first big television moment on the series today.
