They could talk amongst themselves, finalize a deal and ring up the players in question along with the league to notify them of the move. That can leave players without any say from their end. Teams can even freeze out agents to make such deals happen.

This could also push players to take their jobs seriously. Over the past year, the attitude of players towards taking games off and maintaining their conditioning for their own benefits can now come with repercussions.

Teams unhappy with their players could just offload them. Luka Doncic for instance just lost out on more than $100 million. All that means, players will now have to be focused on their job. This trade has shown that teams can take necessary action if they want.
