Lewandowski: ‘It is difficult to find a striker like me nowadays’
Robert Lewandowski believes he is among a dying breed of strikers in modern-day football who score hundreds of goals playing as a centre-forward.
“Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Benzema, and Kun Aguero are some of them, but the ‘9’ changed. My era was that of Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi, and I am close or perhaps behind in number of goals.
“Now, football has changed. I think that now it is also difficult to find my type of striker,” Lewandowski adds.
Lewandowski is one of the few centre-forwards today with 600+ career goals. The Polish no. 9 has 655 to his name.
Erling Haaland is another centre-forward like Lewandowski who could score more than 600 goals but that remains to be seen.
