We’ve reached a pivotal moment in the life cycle of Bennifer 2.0: one in which divorce seems not only like a possibility, but a probability. Time appears to be running out on J.Lo and Ben Affleck’s second attempt at happily ever after, and in the midst of it all, Affleck is now sporting a faux-hawk and has acquired a new bachelor pad in Palos Verdes. While longtime shippers and most of the Cut staff are gutted over the latest developments, “Page Six” claimed Thursday that some of Lopez’s inner circle were never fans of Affleck to begin with. “No one, except [Lopez’s] mother, likes Ben Affleck,” one source told the outlet. “He’s a triple-A asshole.”

Now, did the gossip rag provide any recent examples of Ben’s alleged — for lack of a better word — assholery? Of course not. Instead, the anonymous sources simply pointed to J.Lo’s manager’s longtime “disdain” for Affleck. The singer had worked with Benny Medina from the beginning of her career through 2003, when she suddenly parted ways with him. According to the sources, Affleck “was a factor” in that decision, although Lopez later brought Medina back into the fold in 2004, and has been working with him ever since. Apparently, when it came to the couple’s second go around, Medina’s “attitude was, ‘I’m gonna say nothing.’ [There] was no, ‘Good for you,’ but also, [he] wasn’t negative,” one source said. Imagine one of your closest confidantes saying nothing about your marriage. Sad, if true! (Representatives for Lopez, Affleck and Medina did not comment, per “Page Six.”)

“This was definitely not on her bingo card,” the second source noted of the reported impending breakup. “She would’ve scratched someone’s eyes out if they told her [they’re] splitting up less than two years in.”

Well, there go all my hopes and dreams down the toilet. Maybe Selena Gomez and her little TikTok chef will restore my faith in love?
