LeBron James’s relationship with Dan Hurley should make the Lakers happy.

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ head-coaching drama intensified this week when the team’s attempt to sign UConn Dan Hurley was abruptly shelved after he chose to remain with the Huskies. Many are upset that the two-time national champion decided against joining the Lakers, especially in light of his impressive track record in college leadership and player development. But as it happens, not just UConn alums are relieved that Hurley is staying in Connecticut rather than moving to Los Angeles.

JR Smith, a former guard with the Lakers, shared his opinions about the circumstance on Twitter/X. Smith said in a video that he thought Hurley had too much success with the Huskies to leave in a post on his account. In addition, he made fun of the Lakers by stating, “I just know it would be a better fit for him to stay where he was at, looking at what the Lakers got going on right now, and seeing their past situations.” Smith elaborated in a subsequent tweet, saying Hurley “has an opportunity to go down as one of the greatest coaches in college basketball history.
