The New York Yankees entered the offseason after losing the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers and then lost one of their best players when Juan Soto signed with the New York Mets.

The Yankees responded by acquiring other key players for 2025, including starting pitcher Max Fried from the Atlanta Braves, relief pitcher Devin Williams from the Milwaukee Brewers and outfielder Cody Bellinger from the Chicago Cubs.

The most recent big-name signing by the Yankees was Paul Goldschmidt from the St. Louis Cardinals, and the first baseman revealed his thoughts about joining the historic franchise.

“All the players that have played there spoke very highly about everyone in the organization and the city and the fan base,” Goldschmidt said, via YES Network.

Goldschmidt is a 14-year MLB veteran who came into the league in 2011 with the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he played eight seasons before going to the Cardinals for the past six seasons.

In 2024, Goldschmidt played 154 games and batted .245 with 22 home runs, 65 RBIs and a .716 OPS.

The seven-time All-Star and 2022 NL MVP will give the Yankees a veteran presence on their infield as they try to make it back to the World Series.

Goldschmidt has hit double-digit home runs in every season but two in his MLB career (as a rookie in 2011, and in the shortened 2020 campaign).

The Yankees roster is coming into focus this offseason, and they look primed to make another postseason run in 2025.
