Angel Reese Makes History With Thursday’s McDonald’s Announcement

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese added another accomplishment to her considerable resume on Thursday.

A national champion and All-American in college, as well as the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, Reese was one of two rookies to make the All-Star Game in her debut season. She also led the league in rebounding and set a record for double-doubles. Off the court, she saw her modeling career take off, launched a successful podcast and also was featured on the cover of Vogue.

Today, McDonald’s announced the “Angel Reese Special,” debuting February 10. The meal includes a BBQ Bacon Quarter Pounder with Cheese, fries and a drink, and also allowed Reese to make a little bit of history.

“The FIRST woman athlete with a signature meal at McDonald’s, Angel Reese,” noted Annie Costabile of the Chicago Sun-Times.

McDonald’s describes the “Angel Reese Special” as a “bold, smoky BBQ sauce, crispy bacon, two slices of melty American cheese, slivered onions, and tangy pickles, all on a soft sesame seed bun.”

In a statement released shortly after the news was announced, Reese, who was a McDonald’s All-American in 2020, said the popular fast food chain has played a major role in her life.

“McDonald’s has always been a huge part of my life,” Reese said.

“Being the first female athlete to have my own meal feels like a dream come true. I hope the Angel Reese Special inspires young athletes to never give up on their dreams.”
