Kyrie Irving donated $40,000 to help an elderly woman who was fighting a legal battle with developers trying to take her South Carolina property, which her family had owned since 1865
Controversial Mavericks point guard goes out of his way to help a helpless 93-year-old woman
yrie Irving, a player whose controversial decisions have earned him numerous criticisms in recent years from fans, the media and the NBA itself, which even sanctioned him with a five-game suspension for his support of an anti-Semitic film, has starred in a charitable act that could help wash a little of the conflictive image that always accompanies him.
Now it has come to light that the Dallas Mavericks point guard is helping a 93-year-old South Carolina woman threatened with an eviction notice and who could lose her home. The matter reached Irving‘s ears, who did not hesitate to donate 40,000 dollars to the woman to help her in her legal battle, according to the Daily Mail US.

Josephine Wright, that’s the elderly woman’s name, is a longtime resident of picturesque Hilton Head Island in South Carolina, is being sued by Bailey Point Investment Group for allegedly blocking the construction of a 147-home development next to her property, a parcel of about 7,000 square feet that was first settled by runaway slaves and has remained in her family since the Civil War. Wright inherited the land in 2012 from her late husband.
He donated 38,000 dollars to the victims of a car accident.
Kyrie Irving, in that image wash he’s been immersed in, has made it his mission to help as many people as he can. Earlier this year, he donated 38,000 dollars to the families of two victims of a car accident in North Texas . He didn’t make it public, but the families helped talked about it, and that’s how it transcended into the NBA world.

“All of a sudden I was shocked. I saw Kyrie Irving‘s name and that he had donated 38,000 dollars. I immediately googled his name,” said Chandrashekhar Reddy Yedavelli. “Everyone has the money, but no one has the heart to donate it….. Thank you so much for helping us and our family,” she added.
Shortly after, it was learned that Irving had also donated 65,000 dollars to other causes to help the less fortunate.
