Chiefs’ seasoned kicker, Harrison Butker, found himself in an unexpected post-Super Bowl mishap! Already reeling from being a non-factor in a dismal loss, his evening got worse. On returning to the locker room at the Caesars Superdome, he wasn’t able to find his pre-game suit. As his locker was positioned right next to Patrick Mahomes’ locker, he quipped that the thieves had perhaps made a faulty judgment. Well, talk about your day getting from bad to worse—not just a missed three-peat, but now missed clothes, too. But don’t worry, as the placekicker is already on his way to come back bigger and better, resorting to some external help…
But before that, the bizarre burglary was first confirmed by NFL insider, Dov Kleiman on X: “Harrison Butker had his clothes taken from his locker room after the #Chiefs Super Bowl loss.” But the theft did not deter the spirits of Butker, who handled the situation positively. After showering, he was left wearing a towel. He simply donned the team training gear during the post-game get-together.
Moreover, he also expressed gratitude for everything that happened this season, including the ups and downs that has God’s will in it. He wrote, “Grateful for this season and all of the memories. Thankful for the wins and the losses, the successes and failures. God is good, we are nothing without Him!” Butker has always been vocal about his devout Catholic faith and traditional Latin Mass across his NFL career. And, this has helped him to mindfully navigate the highs, lows, and challenges, including these most recent ones.
He also attached some photos from the Super LIX in the Instagram post. In one photo, Butker was seen bowing his head down in a confident way, while another snapshot showed him standing on the sidelines with some of his teammates, including Mahomes. Perhaps the most impactful of all was the last photo, or what most people know as, “Daniel in the lions’ den”, which as per Bible Study Tool, “teaches us about the promises and faithfulness of God, even if we feel like everything has been lost”.
After a blowout, and not to mention, heartbreaking loss, the Chiefs’ players seem ready to bounce back. Perhaps not a three-peat, but another Super Bowl title?
T
Having said that, while Butker has played key roles in the past three Super Bowl runs with the Chiefs, this time he did not score any points. It was because HC Andy Reid had no choice but to attempt two-point conversions. With the 40-22 loss of the Chiefs to the Eagles, the night was already tough. But, the locker room twist added yet another layer of frustration to the events.
Who was behind the burglary attempt on Patrick Mahomes?
A number of speculations are rising regarding the theft. Whether it is an inside job or just a coincidence, fans have been putting their heads to it. It was the first Super Bowl loss for the Chiefs in three consecutive appearances since 2021, and it has indeed left ardent fans frustrated. But the post-game mishap was a bit extreme. It somehow also reminded us of Tom Brady’s stolen Super Bowl LI jersey, valued at approximately $500,000. It was later recovered in Mexico.
And, this was not the first time that Patrick Mahomes was the (intended) target of a burglary. Both Mahomes and Travis Kelce’s homes were burglarized in October last year on consecutive days. Police teams had confirmed the incidents, and reports revealed that $20,000 in cash was stolen away from Kelce’s home. Mahomes addressed the break-in as “frustrating” and “disappointing.”

Hence, many theories are erupting, whether it being executed by a jersey theft ring based in South America or someone on the staff having ‘mistakenly’ taken it. Seems like only a thorough investigation will clear the air!
