Bon Jovi have announced their new album, Forever, will be released June 7th via Island Records, and their new single, “Legendary,” is out now.
The track is accompanied by a music video, showing the group in a recording studio that turns into a starlit field. Jon Bon Jovi wrote the track, with lyrics like “Friday night comes /Around like a song /Sweet Caroline and we all sing along /Got my brown eyed girl /And she believes in me.” In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, Bon Jovi explained: “The brown-eyed girl, which of course is a Van Morrison nod, but not in this instance. It’s my wife… She has been there faithfully throughout this process.”
Forever is the group’s first album in four years, and follows Jon Bon Jovi receiving a rare surgery to address vocal issues he’s been battling for years. “You know, you don’t really take the time to remember to smell the flowers, if you will,” he told Ultimate Classic Rock. “So it’s been a decade since I was able to purely feel joy… And what matters to me anymore is just being here with my friends, writing the songs that I want to write and living the life I want to live.”
The album will available on vinyl, CD, and cassette with signed copies available. The limited edition Ocean Waves color vinyl comes with a one-of-a-kind polaroid of Jon, limited to 2000 copies.
This year marks Bon Jovi’s 40th anniversary as a band, and on top of the new record they’re celebrating with a retrospective Hulu docuseries, Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, which will premiere on Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ in the U.K. on April 26th.
