Barcelona avoids another Marc Guiu situation, places €100m release clause on Pau Victor
Barcelona were caught off guard when Chelsea triggered Marc Guiu’s €6m release clause in the summer to take the striker to London.
Barca’s response was to pay Girona €2.5m to sign Pau Victor permanently. The striker had excelled with Barca Atletic the previous season, scoring 20 goals.
To avoid putting themselves in the same situation they were with Guiu, Barcelona inserted a €100m release clause on Victor’s contract.
