Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s disagreement on whether to have children allegedly contributed to the end of their marriage, and years later,

Miley remains firm in her stance that having kids likely isn’t in her future.

In a recent interview with W Magazine, the former Disney star discussed her uncertainty about having children, admitting, “I’m 31 now, and I still don’t know if I want kids or not.”

Miley Says Her Fans Are Like Her Kids

She went on to explain her unique perspective on her fans, saying, they in some ways fulfill the role of a kid. “I feel like my fans kind of are my kids in some way,” miley explained.

Cyrus then brought her godmother, country music star Dolly Parton, into the conversation, noting her influence. “I’ve heard Dolly say that too, because she didn’t have kids,” she said. Dolly has been open about her decision to prioritize her career over having kids, saying she didn’t believe it’d be possible to do both, at least well.

Miley further expressed her love for her current stage of life – a child-free adult. “I love being an adult. I have a rule that I don’t look up or don’t look down at anyone.”

She also shared her philosophical outlook on life, saying, “I just look, which allows me the clarity to see the world for what it really is and people for who they really are.”

Miley has been honest about her indecision over having kids before, including during her marriage to Liam Hemsworth, despite the actor’s desire to have a family. Some fans speculate this may have contributed to their 2020 divorce, having only tied the knot in 2018.

Miley And Liam Disagreed Over Having Kids

In a 2019 interview with Elle Magazine, Miley Cyrus candidly shared her reasons for not planning to have children, attributing her decision to the growing threat of climate change. She expressed her concerns, saying she wouldn’t feel comfortable bringing kids into the world “until I feel like my kid would live on an earth with fish in the water.”

She further elaborated, “The Earth is angry.”

The singer and actress also addressed the societal pressure on women to have children, criticizing how those who choose not to are often perceived. “If you don’t want children, people feel sorry for you, like you’re a cold, heartless [person] who’s not capable of love,” Miley remarked.

“He wants kids and doesn’t want to keep putting it off but it’s not quite the timeline Miley had in mind… he is left heartbroken,” one source told Daily Mail before the couple got married following a decade of being on-and-off.

“Miley put off plans for the wedding and Liam was growing tired of it… They haven’t been getting along in recent months.,” they went on. “She didn’t really want to get married. It’s something that everyone else seemed to get but Liam. His family had been begging him to see the light for a long time, but he had faith in Miley. Now he feels like an idiot.”
