Real Madrid easily controlled the game and in the 6th minute, they had the first chance with a dangerous shot from Vinicius to the near corner. In the 18th minute, Endrick broke through strongly and fired a powerful shot from close range but goalkeeper Chevalier played excellently.

The French representative showed quite a bit of tenacity when playing at home. In the 25th minute, striker Jonathan David ran into the offside trap and headed the ball close to the goal, but goalkeeper Andriy Lunin saved the goal for Real Madrid.

In the final minute of the first half, Camavinga handled the ball in the penalty area after a free kick from the home team and Lille was awarded a penalty. On the 11m mark, David beat goalkeeper Lunin, opening the score 1-0 for Lille.

Opportunities kept coming to Real Madrid at the end of the match, Bellingham had a close-range shot in the 85th minute, Antonio Rudiger headed in the 87th minute and Guler threatened in the 90th minute, but all could not defeat goalkeeper Chevalier.

Losing 0-1 to Lille, Real Madrid ended a 36-match unbeaten streak that had lasted for 9 months, and also ended a 14-match unbeaten streak in the UEFA Champions League.

Coach Ancelotti’s team is currently ranked 17th in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League rankings with 3 points. This weekend, Real Madrid will return home to welcome Villarreal in round 9 of La Liga 2024-25.
