Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has been a revelation this 2023-24 campaign.

As terrific as he was in the regular season, helping to lead Minnesota to the third seed in the stacked Western Conference, he has stepped his game up in the NBA Playoffs.

With averages of 32.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, Ant-Man has been the talk of the NBA world, earning the respect of fans, teammates, foes, and even the “Greatest of All Time,” Michael Jordan, who, according to Stephen A. Smith, gave the wingman his stamp of approval.

Snoop Dogg on why Anthony Edwards is the new face of the NBA: "He is a classy guy, he knows what this game is"

Adding to the chorus of endorsements, the iconic Snoop Dogg recently declared Edwards as the face of the NBA.

Skill and class in one package
Speaking on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” the famous rapper and actor was asked by host SAS who he believes is the next face of the NBA. Without batting an eyelash, Snoop blurted out it’s Minnesota’s exuberant star.
“Anthony Edwards, and he’s a classy guy. Like you got to respect his get-down, like he knows what this game is,” Snoop said.

Ant is a pure hooper who not only knows the game, its history, and the players who have helped pave the way for players like him to make their mark in the pros but also deeply respects them. Despite Edwards’ utmost respect for pioneers like his favorite player of all time, Kevin Durant, it doesn’t mean he’ll take a bow when facing off against them. He showed this during Minnesota’s first-round sweep of KD and the Phoenix Suns, something that Snoop said he respected.

Timberwolves Nation - ''Anthony Edwards, and he's a classy guy. Like you got to respect his get-down, like he knows what this game is. Like him challenging KD, and doing all that.

“Like him challenging KD, yes, and doing all that. Then when they asked him about Jordan and all them, and how he deferred, just the way he carries himself off the court,” Dogg added.

Deserves to be with the big boys

Snoop also commended Edwards’ performance in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Manila, Philippines, where he represented Team USA. Despite the team falling short of a medal, Ant stood out as the leading scorer, demonstrating his ability to shine even in the presence of established players like Brandon Ingram, Tyrese Haliburton, and Jalen Brunson.

“Then I saw him in the USA, balling with them, and I’m like, ‘Okay, they need to put him on the team with the big dogs when they go back to Paris, right? So he can get some redemption,’” Snoop shared.

Like Jordan in the 1992 Olympics, AE will join a loaded Team USA squad featuring some of the most lethal scorers in league history, such as KD, Steph Curry, and “The King,” LeBron James. It would be interesting to see how Ant will handle the pressure of playing his role while trying to make a name for himself on the world’s biggest sporting stage.
