Luke Combs Accomplishes a Feat Never Before Achieved in Country Music History. ttmd

Luke Combs fans have witnessed quite the transformation during his decade-long career.

How Luke Combs has reached global success in country music through songs like 'Lovin' On You' and 'Where the Wild Things Are' | Fox News

His third album, 2022’s Growin’ Up, saw the North Carolina native turn his lyricism inward after rising to fame with songs about beer and partying. Combs hasn’t looked back since, with both 2023’s Gettin’ Old and June’s Fathers and Sons following the same trajectory. The “Fast Car” singer has staying power in Nashville—a fact further illustrated by his latest accomplishment.

Luke Combs Is A Thrice Diamond-Certified Artist

During his fifth anniversary appearance at the Grand Ole Opry Tuesday (Aug. 13,) Luke Combs learned that two more of his singles had achieved Diamond certification from the RIAA.

“When It Rains It Pours” and “Hurricane” have officially joined the country star’s previously Diamond-certified hit “Beautiful Crazy.” All three songs are off Combs’ 2017 studio debut, This One’s For You.

With this accomplishment, the six-time CMA Award winner becomes the first country artist to ever score three Diamond-certified singles. A record achieves Diamond certification when it sells at least 10 million units (records, tapes, CDs, track downloads, or audio/video streams.)

Combs rises to the top of an elite club, as only eight other country artists have ever reached this elusive milestone: Lady A, Chris Stapleton, Sam Hunt, Lil’ Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus, Florida Georgia Line, Darius Rucker, Kane Brown and Brett Young.

Combs Wraps Up His Record-Breaking Tour

Luke Combs kicked off his Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old tour in April. Last Saturday (Aug. 10,) the “Where the Wild Things Are” singer closed out the record-breaking run in Houston, Texas.

Combs summed up his thoughts Tuesday (Aug. 13) in a heartfelt Instagram post. “There are a million people who helped make it happen, so I can’t name them all but without the folks behind the scenes and you, the fans, none of it happens, so thank you,” he wrote. “Thank you for continuing to give me the opportunity to do what I love, which is playing live country music for y’all.”
