Roman Reigns And Paul Heyman Influenced Wrestlemania 39 Main Event Match Result

Cody Rhodes had the world delighted when he held the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for the first time in history after defeating Roman Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania 40. However, the anticipation for his win wouldn’t have been this much if he didn’t lose his match against Reigns last year.

Earlier, reports surfaced the internet claiming that Cody Rhodes was initially booked to win the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 itself. Triple H and Vince McMahon were both convinced with the decision. However, things changed in the end and Reigns retained the title.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has revealed that Rhodes was slated to win the match at WrestleMania 39 initially. However, Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns convinced both McMahon and Triple H to change the decision around and get Reigns a win.

While the reason why they did so isn’t out yet, it seems like everything worked out for the best. With his loss, Cody Rhodes got the momentum that he would seemingly not be there if he did win. And the incredible story to the main event of WrestleMania 40 got more exciting with a loss on his corner.
