Biden team ‘hoping’ Taylor Swift visits White House alongside Kansas City Chiefs

The White House is “hoping” that pop superstar Taylor Swift will visit alongside the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs this week.

President Joe Biden will host the Chiefs at the White House on Friday. Swift, who is dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has not been confirmed as an attendee, although partners of players on celebrated teams frequently make the trip to Washington, D.C.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about Swift’s potential attendance during Tuesday’s press briefing but did not provide a definitive answer.

“I think the Swifties behind these double doors are hoping that Taylor Swift makes an appearance. I don’t have anything for you,” she responded. “I don’t know. I can’t speak to her schedule, but I know there’s a lot of interest in this building and on campus.”

Swift, one of the biggest recording artists in the world, has campaigned for Democrats in the past and endorsed the president one month ahead of the 2020 general election but has yet to offer an endorsement during the 2024 cycle.

Biden will celebrate the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl, and, in recent days, Jean-Pierre has faced questions about whether or not Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker would visit alongside his teammates following controversial comments he made in May at a college commencement ceremony.

Jean-Pierre confirmed that the White House had invited the entire team but said that “it’s up to the team who comes and who doesn’t come.”

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid have both defended Butker from the backlash his comments garnished, even while saying they don’t agree with his views.
