Chris Hemsworth has made a rare remark on her brother, Liam Hemsworth’s past relationship with pop sensation, Miley Cyrus. Fans of the actors are well aware of what happened between the ex-pair, which resurfaced when the singer released the hit single, Flowers from Endless Summer Vacation (2023).

As things settle down for a bit, the MCU actor brings the ex-couple into the limelight by mentioning their collaborative project during a lie detector test.

During an April 30 episode of Vanity Fair’s lie detector series, Chris Hemsworth spilled the beans on some interesting statements, including a cheeky remark on his brother, Liam Hemsworth‘s past.

At one point, he was asked if he was envious of his brother securing a starring role in the 2010 movie opposite the 31-year-old singer, Miley Cyrus.

The interviewer began to ask him, “Is there a role of [Liam’s] that you wish was yours?“ to which the Extraction actor replied with a “No“ which led the interviewer to promptly ask, “Not even The Last Song?”

Strangely, his answer came as “inconclusive“ which even surprised the actor, as he was hoping for a “true.” The funny remark references the 2010 movie, The Last Song which became the reason for Cyrus meeting the former’s brother in the first place.

The Last Song follows Cyrus’s Ronnie, a young musician from New York City who reconnects with her estranged father for the summer. Simultaneously, she falls in love with Liam Hemsworth’s William who grapples with several obstacles as they explore their relationship.

Both personalities cemented their place as Hollywood’s favorite couple with their sizzling romance in the 2010 movie. Things quickly moved on as the on-screen pair turned their fictional love into a reality.

Despite keeping it low-key, they eventually went official before breaking up suddenly in 2010. Many speculated that their relationship would rekindle given their spark which we all know turned true.

Back in 2012, they moved their on-off relationship to an official level with engagement. However, the duo’s dream of walking the aisle couldn’t happen as they called it off after postponing their wedding in 2013.

The duo decided to continue their bond as friends but kept talking highly of one another. During a 2015 interview with Men’s Fitness, he shared,

“You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage. I mean, look, we were together five years, so I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be.”

Dropping hints about reconciliation? Well, it eventually happened with a second engagement in 2016. They even managed to exchange vows in 2018 but dropped a major surprise after Hemsworth filed for divorce in 2019 which was finalized the following year. Although nothing major happened for a while, Cyrus’s music ended up making waves. She released her reported diss track on the Triangle actor’s birthday, seemingly hinting at their relationship.
