Her body has been under scrutiny in recent weeks, with one Instagram user demanding she should ‘stop eating junk food’.

But Selena Gomez stuck to her ‘could care less’ attitude as she wowed in a chic casual look on Saturday.

The 22-year-old made the most of the city sunshine as she stepped out in New York in a tight grey vest paired with flared jeans.

The singer showed off her curves in the low cut vest which she tucked into a pair of on-trend, flared denims.

Selena added to the retro feel of her look with some mirrored sunglasses, while she swept her long dark locks back into a loose up do.

Selena was recently forced to hit back at an Instagram user who slammed her appearance, saying she ‘could care less’.

In a social media exchange that was later deleted, the starlet took the user to task for telling her to ‘stop eating junk food’ and ‘work out.’

‘IM IN (sic) the business and I could care less about what ‘they’ or you said I should look like,’ she wrote.

‘I don’t need to do anything other than love myself, take care of my work, fans, family and friends…And I do work out. It’s not your place to tell anyone what they should or should not do.’

The brunette beauty’s representatives have yet to confirm whether Selena was really involved in the exchange with her Instagram hater.

Later on Saturday, Selena joined pal Vanessa Hudgens for a late-night dinner in New York’s East Village after Vanessa took her bow in the Broadway production of Gigi.

The singer had turned up early to see her pal’s performance as the young French courtesan in training at the Neil Simon Theatre.

And afterwards the pair slipped out, accompanied by a body guard.

26-year-old Vanessa  wore the same biker chic outfit she had been seen in when she arrived at the theatre earlier – a leather jacket over a denim one, a stripey T-shirt, skintight black trousers and black shoes.

Selena also went for black, teaming a mini-dress with over-the-knee suede boots plus a grey shawl-style cardigan for added warmth.

Both starlets pulled their jet-black hair up into buns and both were in full make-up with Vanessa adding a pop of colour with her bright red lips while Selena opted for a a more toned down pink.

The pair became firm friends when they co-starred in 2013’s Spring Breakers.

And the fact that Selena turned up in New York put paid to speculation that she might join on-off boyfriend Justin Bieber to watch the Floyd Mayweather Jr V Manny Pacquiao Fight Of The Century in Las Vegas.

Vanessa, who was due back to work for a Sunday afternoon matinee, started previews for Gigi  on March 19, with opening night on April 8.

The musical is due to run until October 4 according to the theatre’s schedule but there is no word on whether the starlet will stay that long.

Meanwhile Selena has recently wrapped roles in two high-profile movies: In Dubious Battle with James Franco and The Revised Fundamentals Of Caregiving with Paul Rudd.
