A WOMAN stumbled into thousands of dollars on the highway, watching people desperately take bills in an unexpected scene.

The crazy event occurred in Indianapolis, Indiana, where an armored vehicle that wasn’t locked properly experienced a loss of thousands of dollars as it drove across the highway.

The $20 bills were scattered on the highway, prompting people to jump out of their buses and vehicles to cash in.

Jazmyne Cooper was one of the witnesses on the scene, capturing some footage.

“Look at all this money on the floor,” said Cooper in a video, obtained by local ABC affiliate WRTV.

The clip shows her recording the money lying just off of the highway, with dozens of bills strewn about.

People are seen approaching the scene to have a closer look.

The money came from an armored truck that was locked incorrectly, prompting the dollars to fly off as it drove quickly through the highway.

“This man came and got a bag of money, y’all,” said Cooper, revealing that many people took some money and ran away with it.

Cooper revealed that while the scene was a strange one to witness, she understood why people wanted to take some money.

“I really didn’t blame them because people were stopped in the middle of traffic,” she said.

“They got what they could and took off.”

Police arrived shortly after, asking people to drop the money and informing them that they would be searched.

“Bags of money were falling out of the back onto the interstate,” said ISP Corporal Brock McCooe to local Fox affiliate WXIN.

“Sort of something out of a movie scene, where you have bills, loose bills flying all over the interstate, vehicles stopping, people getting out of their cars.”

Troopers initially claimed $600,000 had flown off the vehicle.

They later said the exact sum of money is unknown.

Cooper revealed that she was grateful for not taking any of the money, and thus avoiding trouble with the law.

She shared that her grandmother advised her to keep her hands to herself.

“My grandmother told me God blessed me since I didn’t touch the money,” she said.

“I’m hoping I win something big because I didn’t touch anything!” she added with a laugh.

Police allegedly asked people to drop the money on the spot.

If they were to take the money, police said it would be considered theft.

State police now want people who took money to return it.

They made it clear that the highway is heavily monitored, having cameras in various locations.

It’s likely that if people took bills, they were recorded.

“The last thing you want, tomorrow or the next day, is for a state police investigator to come to your home or your job,” said journalist Rafael Sanchez.

Police shared that they’re looking for a school bus driver who stopped to grab some cash.

He then drove away from the scene.

They’re also looking for four people driving a white pickup truck, who took a bag of money from the scene.

“If you’re willing to, in good conscience, turn it back in, there’s amnesty, there’s no real questions asked if you’re willing to give it back,” said McCooe.
