The root cause of the crash is still unknown

AT least one person is dead and 23 others have been left injured after a tragic party bus crash.

The bus crashed on Interstate 95 northbound in Maryland on Sunday morning, bringing traffic to a halt.

Of the 24 people on the bus, only one fatality has been reported, with the remaining passengers having been hospitalized at multiple locations after the crash, reported Penn Live:

Ten patients were taken to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake in Bel Air

Eight patients were taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore

Five patients were taken to University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Aberdeen

Around 6 am, the driver of the bus lost control for “unknown reasons” and struck a guardrail south of exit 80.

Of the 23 hospitalized passengers, the Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company reports that “several [are] in serious condition.”

The first to arrive on the scene of the accident was a commercial paramedic ambulance and an off-duty DC Fire and EMS paramedic who began treating the injured.

The bus belonged to Just Becuz Entertainment Party Bus Service, a Philidelphia-based company.

While the Maryland State Crash Team investigates the crash, all northbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 77 will remain closed.

In addition to the state police, troopers from the Bel Air Barrack, officers from the Maryland Transportation Authority Police, and deputies from the Harford County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the scene.

At this time, no charges have been filed in connection to the crash.

Residents in the area note this particular stretch of highway to be dangerous.

“So many vehicular deaths through this stretches of 695 and 95!! What is going on and why haven’t they recognized it??” wrote one X user on a Joppa-Magnolia Volunteer Fire Company post.

“Damn nearly a daily occurrence in the expressway expansion construction zone between 136 and 543 on I95. I can’t wait till they finish that project, it’s getting ridiculous,” shared another on a post about the crash.

Others have questioned the safety features of the bus.

“Just horrible. Why would the back door be blocked with lumber?” added another user.

Just Becuz Entertainment Party Bus Service has yet to respond to a request for comment.
