Recently on the “It’s Giving” podcast, Snoop claimed he didn’t know how to answer questions from his grandsons about the Disney film “Lightyear,” which features lesbian parents, and admitted he was “scared” to go to the movies because of that. Ts Madison wasn’t having it. She called out the double standards and his biases about LGBTQ+ representation — and, of course, Snoop responded.
Snoop Dogg admits he’s ‘not perfect’ after making comments about same sex couple
Snoop Dogg has broken his silence on a comment he made about Disney’s hit film Lightyear that broke the internet.
Last week, the Young, Wild and Free rapper, 53, appeared on Sarah Fontenot’s It’s Giving podcast and during his chat with the actress, he recalled an experience that left him shellshocked.
Snoop, whose actual name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., said when taking his grandson to see Disney Pixar’s hit film Lightyear in 2022, he was not expecting to see a same-sex couple featured on the screen. Now, he’s been left “scared to go to the movies” because of LGBTQ representation “everywhere.”
Taking to Instagram to address his controversial comment, he wrote, “My bad. I was just caught off guard and had no answer for my grandsons.
“All my gay friends [know] what’s up, they been calling me with love. My bad for not knowing the answers for a 6 yr old. Teach me how to learn. I’m not perfect,” he continued.
During his podcast experience, he had said, “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere.”
Speaking specifically about the animated film, he remembered, “They’re like, ‘She had a baby, with another woman.’ Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!’”
During a short montage in the animated film, Buzz Lightyear’s best friend Alisha Hawthorne gets married to a woman named Kiko, who she also starts a family with.
“I didn’t come in for this s—. I just came to watch the goddamn movie,” he added.
Snoop admitted the feature “threw me for a loop.” It was not only him who was left surprised. His grandson was also left with a bunch of questions, asking, “They just said, she and she had a baby, they’re both women. How does she have a baby?”
“It f—– me up,” Snoop mentioned. “I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of s— that I don’t have an answer for.”
“These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer,” he concluded.
After hearing his remarks, fans quickly swarmed to Reddit to criticize the rapper.
One questioned, “Why do close minded people always blame others for their shortcomings as parents?”
Another said, “All his music is massively publicly sexually explicit but a lesbian couple is too much? STFU dude.”
“All of these celebrities (esp older ones) trying to grift the right wing for money is extremely pathetic to see,” a third wrote.
