Tiger Woods failed to make the cut at the PGA Championship after a round of 77 on Friday.

Tiger Woods has admitted that he won’t be changing his current schedule despite admitting he ‘needs to play more’ after failing to make the cut at the PGA Championship.

The 15-time major champion got off to a decent start at Valhalla as he stayed around the cut line after the opening round.

But two triple bogeys in the space of three holes early on Friday wrecked Woods’ chances of getting back in the red.

The 48-year-old managed to steady the ship in the latter holes and ended with a birdie to put a smile on his face.

However, Woods accepted the damage was done early in his round to prevent him from playing at the weekend.

The golfing icon admitted to feeling physically better than he did at the Masters last month.

However, his game is still not where he wants it to be and that comes from a lack of competitive rounds.

Woods is already confirmed to play the US Open at Pinehurst after receiving a special exemption invite.

There’s three PGA Tour events before then, but Woods has indicated that he won’t be playing any part in any of them before turning up to the 2024 US Open.

“I got off to a bad start and the rough grabbed me at two,” Woods said.

“No sand in the bunker as well. Just made a mistake there.

“I compounded the problem there at four. Just kept making mistakes and things you can’t do, not just in tournaments but in Majors especially. And I just kept making them.

“I hung around for most of the day but unfortunately the damage was done early.

“I just got to… I need to play more. Unfortunately, I just haven’t played a whole lot of tournaments, and not a whole lot of tournaments on my schedule either.

“Hopefully everything will somehow come together in my practice sessions at home and be ready for Pinehurst.

“Physically, yes, I am better than I was a month ago.

“I still have more ways to go, lots of improvement to go physically, and hopefully my team and I can get that done pre-Pinehurst and going into it.”
