“The Greatest Rock Band in American History Has Retired”: Fans Recall Their Fondest Aerosmith Memories
To the devastation of fans, Aerosmith recently announced the cancelation of their upcoming restarted tour and their retirement from performing altogether.
The band took to social media to share the sad announcement, stating that Steven Tyler cannot fully recover from his vocal injury “despite having the best medical team by his side.”
The post continued, “We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision – as a band of brothers – to retire from the touring stage.”
Now, still reeling from the announcement, fans are sharing their best memories of the band’s live performances and their impact on music.
“The greatest rock band in American history has retired,” one fan wrote on Twitter. “As a lifelong fan, I want to thank Aerosmith for all the amazing music & memories, which will live on forever.”
Other fans chimed in on the post, sharing their memories of Steven Tyler and Aerosmith. “Their music really has been an anthem for generations. I’ll never forget the first time I heard ‘Walk This Way’ – it was like Steven Tyler’s voice just exploded in my ears!” another fan commented.
Aerosmith Fans Gather on Social Media to Share Their Favorite Memories of the Band’s Live Performances
Another fan shared a photo of Steven Tyler performing live in Boston. “Steven Tyler playing Dream On from the top of the Green Monster at Fenway Park will always be one of the most amazing moments at a live concert I’ve ever seen. Thank you for all the great times!!” they wrote. Another fan shared that they were at that show as well, and came all the way from Canada.
One person posted a photo of an Aerosmith concert ticket from 1977 in Houston, Texas. Another person posted their ticket from 1973, when Aerosmith apparently performed at Marlboro High School in Massachusetts. That ticket was $3, while another ticket from 1975 in Santa Monica cost $7.50.
Fans are coming together to share their memorabilia and memories from Aerosmith’s live performances. While the retirement is devastating for fans, at the same time, it’s bringing them together. Aerosmith would be proud.
