Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun masters feud to be explored in new documentary ‘Bad Blood’
The Eras Tour superstar will be the focus of the Discovery+ docuseries as she prepares for the UK leg of her record-breaking tour
Taylor Swift’s long-running feud with Scooter Braun is to be the focus of a new documentary commissioned by Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD). Slated to release in June under the working title Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun: Bad Blood, the two-part series will explore the long-running feud between the pop-superstar and music industry mogul.
It will be available to stream exclusively on Discovery+ in the UK, which is available for £3.99 a month with Amazon Prime Video’s Discovery+ channel alongside a 30-day Amazon Prime trial. It follows several other hugely popular ‘vs’ docs including Johnny vs Amber, Kim vs Kanye: The Divorce, and Vardy vs Rooney: The Wagatha Trial.
It comes as Swift is weeks away from kicking off the UK leg of The Eras Tour with performances at London’s Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium. Fans have been scrambling for a way to see the Anti-Hero songstress before her first date on June 7, with tickets available here.
Bad Blood will delve into the $300 million dispute which kicked off after Braun bought the rights to Swift’s first six albums in June 2019. Over two hour-long episodes, viewers will be taken on a comprehensive examination of the feud, exploring the complexities of music ownership, gender dynamics in the industry and the power of fan influence, while delving into the two polarised sides of the dispute allowing them to form their own opinion.
True to the ‘vs’ format, each episode will examine the opposing sides of the argument. One will explore Swift’s side that the sale was conducted without consulting her and that she has since been blocked from buying back her masters, while the other examines Braun’s allegations that Swift refused to negotiate and instead incited a public feud by pitting her fan base against him.
The access-driven docuseries will see legal experts, journalists and those close to both Swift and Braun presenting each side of the argument.
“Taylor Swift’s dispute with Scooter Braun over the ownership of her music exploded into the mainstream, taking contract law from boardroom to social media and into public interest,” said Charlotte Reid, Vice President of Commissioning, Networks and Streaming at WBD UK and Ireland. “It’s a high-profile, high-interest story that opened debate on fandom and dominated headlines, one which will resonate with our viewers.”
Taylor Swift vs Scooter Braun was commissioned by Charlotte Reid and executive produced by Matt Reid for WBD in the UK and Ireland. The series is executive produced by Nick Hornby and Sarah Eglin for Optomen TV.
Alternatively, Disney+ offers a range of new films and shows, including Taylor Swift concert film The Eras Tour (Taylor’s Version) and the upcoming fifth season of The Kardashians. TV fans can get the equivalent of two months free with an annual subscription to Disney’s Standard or Premium plans, while those that prefer to pay monthly can join the budget-friendly ‘with Ads’ plan for £4.99.
