Lil Nas X Says That He Wishes Beyonce’s Country Music Success ‘Would Have Happened For Me’

Lil Nas X is getting candid when it comes to how he feels about Beyonce‘s turn in country music and how he wished her success would have happened to him.

In a new interview with the BBC, Lil Nas X shares that he is “happy” for Beyonce but shares that he could have experienced it.

“I wish this would have happened for me. I wasn’t even able to experience this,” he said.

Lil Nas X did say that he as been “trying out some country [sounds] here and there over the last couple of years,” but that he wants “to feel connected to it and not force it.”

“Of course I know my own worth, but these are the things that are going to feed your family and the people around you who have helped build what you’re creating. So it’s important. I can’t just say [screw] hits, because I need them,” he concluded.

Previously, Lil Nas X’s song ‘Old Town Road’ was barred on any Billboard country chart because it was said it didn’t embrace enough country elements.
