Morgan Wallen Teams up With Make-A-Wish Foundation To Give Young Fan With Heart Condition the Experience of a Lifetime
Morgan Wallen has joined with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to bring a young fan backstage for a special experience during a tour stop in Kansas City. Wallen met Owen, an 8-year-old with a heart condition since birth, giving the kid a chance to see the show as well as go backstage and hang out with Wallen.
Alexis Arnold, Owen’s mom, told Country Now that her son has had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) since he was born. He has had to undergo three heart surgeries, once when he was born, another at six months, and another at two years old.
On TikTok, Alexis shared her son’s love of country music with the world. She posted a video of Owen at a young age playing a toy guitar and singing along to Wallen’s song “Whiskey Glasses.” The video then cuts to Owen in the present day, enjoying the same song at Wallen’s concert.
Family Enjoys Morgan Wallen Concert and Backstage Hangout Through Make-A-Wish Foundation
Owen and his family attended Morgan Wallen’s August 1 concert, where Owen went backstage with Wallen before the show. The two spoke about their shared interests, such as baseball, dirt bikes, and music. Alexis shared a now-deleted backstage video of Owen and Wallen chatting away.
Wallen later shouted out Owen from the stage during the show. “I met with a little boy who has been going through a super hard time in life lately, right before the show and I told him I would shout him out at some point during the show so I’m going to do that right now,” Wallen told the audience. “His name is Owen and hopefully, he’s still here.”
Alexis put out a statement about the experience, sharing that Owen is doing “very well,” adding, “Unless you know he has a heart condition you wouldn’t be able to tell unless you see his scar.”
She continued, “Morgan was such a great guy. Owen and Morgan clicked so easily and I’m very grateful for Morgan Wallen and Make-A-Wish for giving my son this experience. He deserves this!”
