Katy Perry debuts futuristic teaser as fans accuse her of ‘copying’ Lady Gaga

Katy Perry Stars in Denon PerL Commercial: Where to Buy the Earbuds

Many think that Perry’s upcoming single too closely resembles a beloved Lady Gaga era.

Katy Perry is in her futuristic era, and many have pointed out an obvious influence in her new music.

On Monday, the former American Idol judge posted another teaser snippet to her upcoming single Woman’s World, this time as a partnership with Denon PerL Pro earbuds.

In the commercial, Perry struts to the groovy beat while wearing a white getup, and dancing amongst colorful orbs.

However, despite the creative advertisement, many fans couldn’t help but notice that the beat to Woman’s World sounded surprisingly similar to Lady Gaga’s 2020 hit Stupid Love, off her album Chromatica.

“This sounds like stupid love tf,” one user pointed out.

“Stupid love is such a great, influential pop song,” another sarcastically wrote.

“This is stupid love from shein,” another joked.

“Stupid love is that you?” inquired another.

“I can’t unhear gaga’s stupid love,” stated a fifth.

“It’s giving stupid love by lady gaga,” a sixth commented.

The release of Woman’s World has been facing much controversy lately, as it has been confirmed that Perry collaborated with disgraced producer Dr. Luke for the track.

“Katy knew exactly the album she wanted to make and put together the team to make it happen. And that includes previous collaborators including [Dr.] Luke,” a Capitol Records source told Rolling Stone in June.

The producer, whose real name is Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald, has previously collaborated with Perry on hit tracks such California Gurls and I Kissed a Girl.

However, in 2014, Kesha filed a lawsuit against Dr. Luke, claiming that he raped her in 2005. The lawsuit was dropped in 2016, and Dr. Luke rebutted with a defamation lawsuit, which was settled in 2023.

When Perry dropped her first teaser for Woman’s World, Kesha cryptically tweeted the word “lol.” This led many fans to believe that the Animal songstress was clapping back at Perry and the producer in a subtle way.

In a recent interview with The Daily Mail, an inside source said that Perry’s choice to collaborate with Dr. Luke was an unwise move for her career.

“So many fans are already turning on Katy before she’s even released new music because Dr. Luke worked on this album with her,’ an insider told the outlet.

“She is trying to promote it on female empowerment – but working with Dr. Luke screams the opposite,” they added.
