Lewis Hamilton’s “Good Luck Charm” Behind Historic British GP Win Revealed, BFF’s 3000 Mile Journey Bears Ultimate Fruit
Having left Michael Schumacher behind with his British GP win, Lewis Hamilton is now the man of the moment. The 7-time champion broke an undesirable 945-day winless streak to win his 104th F1 race on home soil. From NFL Legend Tom Brady to former F1 rival Sebastian Vettel, congratulations are in order. But adorably taking credit for this historic feat was his pet dog, Roscoe, coming all the way from their Los Angeles home.
Coming into Silverstone, Mercedes was riding high on confidence and performance. George Russell was gifted the Austrian GP win, and he was aiming to continue the streak, taking Pole position for his home race. However, a technical issue on his W15 meant Lewis Hamilton inherited the race lead. Till the end, Lando Norris and Max Verstappen pressured him, but the 7-time champion shined like a diamond to secure his 9th British GP victory.
Hamilton’s pet bulldog Roscoe, who usually lives and travels with him, made his first appearance of this year at an F1 race. It came as a welcome surprise for fans who cheered on media day when Roscoe deboarded his car. Hamilton made sure to give his fans watching from home what they wanted. After the race, the Mercedes driver shared some goosebump-inducing snaps of Roscoe with him on stage, hovering around his father’s trophy that was wrapped in the Great Britain flag. The Instagram post was captioned: “Congrats dad’s. I’ms the good’s luck charm 🍾🏆”.
In the comments, fans agreed at the drop of a hat on how accurate the caption was. Roscoe’s first appearance of 2024 gave his ‘hooman’ his first victory of 2024 – no optimist calls that a coincidence. Hamilton’s fairytale victory was a real tearjerker. Post-race, he even admitted to never having shed tears after winning a race.
Lewis Hamilton finally gets closure on the traumatizing 2021 Abu Dhabi GP
The 8th championship that Lewis Hamilton is still in pursuit of was snatched from at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. Race Director Michael Masi’s ‘human error’ cost him the race and the championship. The Briton admitted to struggling with his mental health since that day. After his British GP victory, Hamilton addressed the impact that the 2021 loss had on him.
“There are so many times where you feel like you give it your best shot and it is just not good enough,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail, while adding, “We live in a time where mental health is such a serious issue and I am not going to lie, I have experienced that. When I came back in 2022, I honestly thought I was over it [Abu Dhabi 2021] and I wasn’t and it has taken a long time to heal that feeling and that is only natural for anyone that has had an experience like that.”
His comeback at the British GP was a proud moment for everybody in attendance. Both his divorced parents were present, giving him long hugs after he jumped out of his car, still wiping his tears. And Roscoe, his loyal companion joined him later to complete the family celebrations. What a day!
