Frederic Vasseur Slammed for ‘Pointless’ Lewis Hamilton Move as Carlos Sainz’s Insulting Exit Destabilizes Ferrari
Carlos Sainz did everything right to steer Ferrari towards wins, but the iconic team sacked him. The lure of having 7-time champion Lewis Hamilton on board blinded Frederic Vasseur & Co. It has been over 3 months that the axed Spaniard has been looking for an F1 seat for 2025 but to no avail. This has made Eddie Jordan lash out at Ferrari’s insulting behavior towards Sainz.
Until Charles Leclerc’s Monaco GP victory, Sainz was the only non-Red Bull winner in 2 years. Yet, in attempting to create a championship-winning dream team, Vasseur signed his old pal, Hamilton. Since the decision, Sainz has not once bad-mouthed Ferrari. But neither has he succeeded in getting a Red Bull or Mercedes contract. Williams and Audi remain his only options and the inevitable of racing in the midfield awaits him. This has not gone down well with the former Jordan F1 team boss.
“He (Sainz) must feel very, very disappointed to be given the door by Ferrari because I don’t think he did anything wrong,” Jordan said on the Formula for Success podcast. “He looked right, he acted right, he won races for them. For heaven’s sake! What more could he have done? I feel very slighted and if you were Carlos Sainz, you’d feel slighted,” the 76-year-old lamented.

He also highlighted how ill-timed Ferrari’s move could be considering their intra-team cohesion was finally paying off. “What’s the point in taking Lewis Hamilton in when we have a very strong, structured team which is youthful, strong, and ambitious? I just think Carlos Sainz has got a raw deal,” the former team boss sourly concluded.
A heartbroken spirit lies behind the 3-time Grand Prix winner’s silent demeanor. But that’s how ruthless F1 can get. Though Jordan isn’t happy with Ferrari’s way of treating Sainz, he believes that for Hamilton, on a personal level, this transfer has brought closer his dream of the record-breaking 8th World championship.
Eddie Jordan expects “fireworks” from Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari
In Carlos Sainz‘s failed dream lies the egg that can birth Lewis Hamilton’s ultimate desire. The Briton is level with retired Michael Schumacher on 7 championships. What Mercedes couldn’t provide, he seeks from F1’s most successful team – the never-before-seen 8th title. Eddie Jordan, who manages Adrian Newey, the technical genius, rumored to be joining Hamilton at Ferrari, is highly optimistic for the 7-time champion.
“I think at 39 that Lewis, when he gets himself with red overalls, just like when he left McLaren and went to Mercedes, it was just like fireworks,” Jordan said. “I think that Lewis will be a serious contender for the World Championship, and I promise you he will give it an almighty crack next year before ’26. Anything can happen.”

Hamilton’s hopes are high but so are his future teammate Charles Leclerc‘s. 2025 will witness the duo’s first battle for glory while Sainz builds a midfield team from the ground up. Netflix will record the upcoming storylines for ‘Drive to Survive’ but will also grab the attention of viewers worldwide.
