Former Masters champion Trevor Immelman believes Tiger Woods is making giant strides to getting his game back together again ahead of this week’s US Open at Pinehurst No.2.

Immelman, 44, won his sole maiden major at the 2008 Masters and now works as the lead golf analyst for CBS Sports.

After watching Woods on the range ahead of the third major of the season in North Carolina, the South African believes Woods’ battered and bruised right leg following his horror car crash in 2021 is ‘the most active’ its been in a long time.

Woods, 48, has played a limited schedule in 2024 as a result of recovering from ankle surgery last season.

He withdrew during the second round of his official PGA Tour comeback at the Genesis Invitational in February.

The 15-time major champion then set a new consecutive cuts record at The Masters in April, but he would go on to finish dead last of those that made the weekend in solo 60th position.

Woods then went on to miss the cut at last month’s US PGA at Valhalla.

But Immelman loves what he sees from Woods, who has called in his son Charlie Woods to help him during his practice at Pinehurst.

Immelman tweeted:

“Maybe the most active I’ve seen his right leg in the downswing in a long time.”

Woods tees off at 7.29am local time on Thursday. He’s out alongside Will Zalatoris and 2022 US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick.

The former World No.1 is bidding to win a fourth US Open title and 16th career major title, something he is adamant he can do.

Woods received the coveted Bob Jones Award prior to the start of the US Open.

Charlie cracked a hilarious one-liner before his father got up on stage.
