“This is insensitive to his survivors” – Internet slams co-host of Diddy roast event in Miami over domestic violence jokes
A group of comedians in Miami are coming under fire for making domestic violence jokes at a Diddy roast. The event was part of a fundraiser to benefit the National Domestic Violence Hotline, and was held at the newly-opened Dead Flamingo Pop Up in Little Havana this week.
This comes in light of a 2016 surveillance video showing Diddy physically assaulting his former long-time partner Cassie Ventura. As videos from the event went viral, netizens especially slammed the co-host, Brittany Brave, for making fun of a very serious situation, with one saying her jokes were “insensitive.”

While many stated the dark jokes were in poor taste, some remarked that the host should not have brought up Diddy’s ex-wife, the late Kim Porter.
“Joking about abuse ain’t even hilarious in the black community… why tf would we laugh at a YT woman making jokes about black women being abused? This is trash,” commented one user
“None of those jokes were funny. Kim has nothing to do with this and her name should not be mentioned. Domestic jokes aren’t funny. I pray I never have that much hate in my heart for nobody that I keep their name in my mouth as much as he does. Live laugh and allow karma/justice do it part!! Geesh!!” wrote @toyayoung7596.
“That wasn’t funny, none of it, that’s that Wyt Dark humor….” added another.
They called the event “very disturbing,” with some asking for Brave to be ‘cancelled’.
“This is very, very, very disturbing,” one remaked.
“They just said fck the victims,” commented @big_scorpi0.
“Cancel her,” added another.
Diddy’s nemesis, 50 Cent, was in attendance at the roast event in Miami
Per the Miami Herald, the event featured local comedians such as Lonnie Cox, Ricky Cruz, and Drew Illa, and was co-hosted by Brittany Brave and Danny Creamcity. It was sponsored by 50 Cent’s brand, Branson Cognac, and Le Chemin du Roi champagne. Fif himself was in attendance and passed around shots of his cognac. He later shared an IG post confirming the same.
Brave, the show’s producer and a survivor of domestic violence herself, took time to explain how comedy helped her out of her abusive relationship. She explained-
“(The Diddy scandal) is topical right now so it made sense to join the conversation in a productive way. Comedy is what pulled me out of an abusive relationship that lasted for three years and it continues to help all of us make sense of life, especially the parts of it that sting.”
Brave is an actress and writer who began her journey as a stand-up comic in 2017. She is known for centering her material around gender dynamics and abuse. In one of Brave’s controversial jokes from the roast, she stated:
“Sean Combs got his nickname ‘Puffy’ because that’s how he leaves his girlfriends after every relationship.”
Last November, Cassie Ventura sued Diddy, accusing him of sexual abuse and violence. While the case was settled a day later, several other lawsuits were filed against Bad Boy Record’s founder, alleging similar complaints. He denied all the allegations.
In May 2024, CNN released security footage of him assaulting Cassie.
Since then, the In Da Club rapper, has been on the offensive against Diddy. He even shared an X post saying he wanted to “slap the sh*t out of him” last month.
Diddy has not released any statements about the roast.
