Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt‘s children continue to renounce her father’s surname in the wake of their parent’s divorce as Shiloh and Vivienne Jolie, the youngest daughter, declared they are Pitt’s no more Friday, May 30 following their older brothers.

Shiloh Nouvel Jolie made this decision on her 18th birthday on May 27, formally requesting to remove her father’s surname in a legal document as she wasted not a single day more in doing so, whilst her younger siblings, Vivienne, Knox, Zahara, Pax and Maddox already follow the same pattern by refusing to identify with the Fight Club star’s name.

Most of the couple’s children have chosen to give up their father’s surname. Zahara and Maddox have already done so formally, and Vivienne seems to be following in their footsteps, as does Shiloh.

Pax, another of the sons, has expressed negative opinions about his father, describing him as “a horrible human being.”

Why have they renounced their father’s surname?

The story of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who married in 2014 and divorced two years later in 2016, contains serious allegations of abuse and mistreatment by Pitt, culminating in an incident on a private plane where he allegedly assaulted his eldest son, Maddox.

It’s led to his family to cut ties with him and that seems to have no sign of changing, despite the 60-year-old’s desire to reconnect with them after becoming estranged. Although the exact reasons behind the renunciation of the surname and the removal of Pitt from their lives have not been made public, past events suggest a possible explanation.

Pitt denies all allegations of domestic violence and was not charged following an FBI probe, but it’s clear that his children do not appear to want anything to do with him at the moment, although he suspects this is because of Jolie’s parenting as she holds custody.
