Katy Perry Announces She Is Leaving The Show

Katy Perry announced a few months ago that she would not be returning to American Idol next season. This shocked fans to hear. Perry announced the news on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in February.

 “This fall, in September, I’m going to be doing this huge music festival in Brazil called Rock in Rio… so I think this will probably be my last season for Idol. I mean, I love Idol so much. It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I need to feel that pulse of my own beat.”

Katy Perry has been on the show since 2018 and feels as though it is time to step away.

Katy’s Replacement Prospects

There are a lot of recommendations by fans on who they want to be the next judge on the panel. Fans went to Reddit to give their suggestions.

“I have a few choices besides the obvious Taylor Swift but AS IF that would happen”
“Someone that actually criticizes contestants”
“I think Kelly clarkson would be iconic as she is the first American idol!”
“I think they should get Adele and every time someone butchers one of her songs, she has the power to send them home.”
“Pink would be great. But probably too busy actually having a career.”
