Cesc Fabregas did not name Messi as one of the best players he played with

Cesc Fabregas spent many years defending the colors of Barcelona.

In a recent episode of The Rest of Football podcast, Harry Lineker asked Cesc to name the best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward he has played with. However, a special condition was set – it is forbidden to choose Lionel Messi .

“I will call Iker Casillas . I still remember the happy moments in the team,” said Fabregas.

“About defense – I will call Carles Puyol . He was not the best football player, but I miss players who love and know how to defend. They are real warriors. For the defense line, it is important to have a team leader, a real captain. Therefore, my choice is obvious – Puyol,” continued Cesc.

“The next is Andres Iniesta . I love Xavi, David Silva, Patrick Vieira, Gilberto Silva, but for me Iniesta is the best in this category. He knows how to send a transmission anywhere, and it’s incredible. He does it as if it is very simple for him. He might be surrounded by seven players, but you won’t see any pressure in Andres’ eyes.

He will always find the right solution. In the later stages of his career, he became better – scoring goals and attacking free space. I was always comfortable around him. The way he led and held the ball, I don’t think I’ve seen a better midfield player than Andres,” Cesc emphasized.

“I like Thierry Henry . He always dominated the football field. Ego day or not, it doesn’t matter. Sometimes the ego is simply impossible to stop. Big and wonderful defenders simply didn’t know what to do with him,” concluded Cesc .
