Barca happy with one thing Flick improved after Xavi – Laporta talked about it
Hansi Flick’s re-energised Barcelona side have taken La Liga by a storm, winning the first four games with an aggregate score of 13-3.
Diario Sport report that the Catalans’ decision-makers are particularly happy with the team’s levels of fitness.
They were concerned that Barca had looked too tired towards final minutes of their games last season under Xavi. They wanted the team to be more fit and focused – and apparently they’ve got what they want under Flick.
Speaking in June about his decision to appoint the German as the manager, Joan Laporta specifically mentioned the players’ physical conditioning.
“Physical preparation is essential, because with that and having the ball we can win everything. We saw that in the 60th minute the team dropped in level, they didn’t finish the game the same, like the two games against Real Madrid, which came back in the last minutes,” the Blaugrana president said at that time.
“I’m not saying that they weren’t well prepared, but there are always things to improve and Flick will improve physical preparation.”
