John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have often been candid about their lives together over the years, sharing snippets on social media as they’ve grown to a family of six.
Now, they’re opening a door to an aspect that’s only been hinted at in recent photos and videos — a full look at their new airy and earth-toned Beverly Hills residence.
Their family homes have been key “chapters” in their lives, Teigen tells Architectural Digest (AD). In AD’s global September issue, they’re turning a new page, welcoming readers to spend time with them in their newly-renovated space after selling a seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion, formerly owned by Rihanna, last year.
For the cover, the couple posed with three of their kids, Luna, Miles, and Esti — newborn Wren, who arrived in June, is not pictured — in the spacious property, which was overhauled by architect and interior designer Jake Arnold. Arnold has worked his magic on homes for Katy Perry, Rashida Jones and Aaron Paul, and also previously worked on Legend’s recording studio.

“We’re always open to a new house, or to changing the house we’re in,” Teigen told AD in the cover story.
“When she says we, she means she,” Legend added. “But it’s true. We’re not afraid of switching things up.”
An inviting sancturary
Legend told AD their last home was a bit “darker” and “cloistered,” and that he and Teigen were drawn to their new property because of the quality of its light. “We love how open it feels, and how it’s so connected to the outdoors. We wanted to create something magical, especially for the kids,” he explained.
Arnold is known for his expertise with soft, elevated neutrals and creating spaces that feel warm and welcoming — which he adapted to the couple’s own tastes.
“They like elements with a little glam and fun, and they’re drawn to work by bold, contemporary artisans, which is not my usual thing,” Arnold told AD. “But Chrissy and John are the most welcoming, supportive people, and they trusted me. My challenge was to take this very contemporary, shiny new house and apply my philosophy to it — to make it inviting and livable, a version of what I do that speaks directly to their personalities.”

The couple had previously told their magazine they’re both drawn to romantic, feminine design, which is echoed in the open-plan house through blush and gilt accents, sinuous furniture and sculptural chandeliers.
Arnold emphasized curved forms throughout the home, with sharp edges nearly impossible to find across furniture, decor, and interior details. He went as far as to replace the home’s former angular steel and glass staircase entirely.
“I wanted to do lots of rounded silhouettes to offset the rectilinear architecture,” Arnold explained. “They use every room in the house, and no place is off-limits to the children, so it all had to be casual and comfortable.”

“We’re always open to a new house, or to changing the house we’re in,” Teigen told AD.

In the kids’ bedrooms, Arnold amplified the colors, with a lofted pink and lavender paradise for seven-year-old Luna, complete with a slide into a ball pit, and a safari-themed space for five-year-old Miles, which features massive giraffes, a bunk-bed Jeep, and a climbing wall.
“We know the rooms will evolve as the kids grow up, but they’re perfect for right now. They’re like little dreamworlds,” Arnold said.
