Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are dedicated to maintaining a “friendly” relationship as they navigate their ongoing divorce.

According to a source close to Lopez, 55, the actress and singer is focused on the divorce while prioritizing their children. Lopez shares 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with her ex-husband Marc Anthony, while Affleck has three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12.

“They want to show the kids that everything is amicable,” the source revealed, adding, “They want to stay friendly. There’s still a lot of love between them.”

Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, coinciding with the second anniversary of their traditional wedding ceremony in Georgia; they had initially tied the knot in Las Vegas on 17th July 2022. She filed the paperwork in Los Angeles County Superior Court and noted April 26, 2024, as the date of separation. Lopez represented herself in the divorce proceedings, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.

In her filing, Lopez requested no spousal support for either party, and a source indicated that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement. The divorce documents also stated that they would share attorneys’ fees, and Lopez expressed her desire to revert to her maiden name.

Despite their separation, Lopez and Affleck have maintained an amicable relationship. They even had a friendly lunch on 14th September, which included four of their five children (Violet was absent as she is currently attending Yale University). They have also come together on multiple occasions to celebrate their children’s milestones, including graduations.

Following their recent lunch, the source confirmed that the former couple is “still moving forward with the divorce” and is “working out financial details amicably.”

“They all got together for a fun lunch so the kids could spend time together,” the insider explained. “Divorce is never easy, but the kids have always gotten along and have fun together. It makes Lopez happy to see the kids enjoying each other’s company. Their happiness is her top priority.”
