Priyanka Chopra’s mother, Madhu Chopra recently shared how Nick Jonas convinced her that he is the ideal guy for the actress. She also reacted to their huge age gap.

Globally renowned actress and former Miss World, Priyanka Chopra married American singer, Nick Jonas in December 2018, in not one but two wedding ceremonies. They first said ‘I Do’ in a Christian ceremony, followed by a traditional Indian wedding in Rajasthan. While their extravaganza was one of the most talked-about topics back then, the duo’s age gap was also discussed at large. For those unaware, Priyanka is ten years older than Nick.

Recently, PeeCee’s mother, Madhu Chopra, appeared on  Filmygyan’s YouTube talk show and discussed her daughter’s professional and personal life. During the conversation, the host inquired about her reaction to Priyanka’s decision to marry Nick. She said that initially when she learned that Priyanka was spotted with Nick, she had questioned her daughter if something was going on between the two. Priyanka denied such rumours and told her mother that she would tell her first if anything happened between them.

After a few days, Priyanka came back to  Mumbai with Nick. When Madhu Chopra inquired why is the singer coming to India, Priyanka said that he would write songs and she would complete her work. Madhu Chopra further recalled the story behind meeting the American singer for the first time and revealed how he assured her that he was the right guy for Priyanka. Madhu Chopra said:

“When he came to India and met me, he took me to lunch when Priyanka was not around. Nick asked me what kind of boy I would want for Priyanka. So, I listed all the qualities, and he simply took my hand and said, ‘I am that guy. Can I be that person? I promise that nothing from your list will be left unchecked.’”

Moreover, Madhu Chopra mentioned that she was amazed by Nick’s personality and was unprepared when Nick said that he wanted to marry Priyanka. Further, when the host asked how she felt when people were talking about Priyanka and Nick’s huge age gap, Madhu Chopra said that she did not care about such anonymous noises. In her words:

“Koi farak nehi pada. Admi accha, ladki acchi, both care for each other, that’s all. Nothing. Maine uss nazar se dekha hi nehi. I was so happy, ecstatic. Bolne wale bolte rahe.”

In the same interaction, PeeCee’s mother also revealed that Priyanka never wanted to become an actress. Madhu Chopra mentioned that the former Miss World was offered her first South Indian film through her acquaintances. While she initially refused to do the film, she later agreed to it. Priyanka’s mother added that when she started shooting her film, she realised her affinity towards the profession.
