Speaking about the move, the actor commented a few months ago, “I owe it to my wife,” adding, “The kids are very happy, and there is nothing better than that.” The actor has fully integrated into life in Spain, even participating in local traditions, such as enjoying chocolate con churros at Christmas with Alejandra.

There are several factors that explain why Alejandra and Richard decided to leave the US for Madrid. Alejandra herself explained to Elle magazine about their shared mission to help eradicate homelessness in Spain: “Our goal is that within five years, no one will sleep on the streets anymore.” This is undoubtedly another example of the couple’s commitment to social causes.

Although this is Richard Gere’s first time living outside the United States, the move doesn’t seem to be a challenge for the actor, who has a clear dedication: making the world a better place.
