Sophie Cunningham said the Fever are coming, whether the WNBA wants them to or not
Sophie Cunningham had a lot to say after the Indiana Fever defeated the Atlanta Dream in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series.
Unfortunately for Cunningham, she has been sidelined since August due to an MCL tear in her right knee. She averaged 8.6 points per game this season on 43.2% shooting from the beyond the arc. Her role in Stephanie White’s offense truly expanded after Caitlin Clark went down with a groin injury.
Despite not having Clark and Cunningham in the playoffs, the Fever shocked the Dream on the road in a do-or-die Game 3. Kelsey Mitchell led the charge with 24 points. Aliyah Boston was also superb with 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Did the WNBA want Indiana to lose?
On this Friday’s episode of the “Show Me Something” podcast, Cunningham addressed the Fever’s playoff series victory over the Dream. She claims the WNBA is “mad” that Indiana advanced to the semifinals.
“The league is so mad that we won, because we are literally not supposed to be here at all,” Cunningham said. “And that just fuels our fire even more.”
We’re not sure if Cunningham was referring to rival WNBA teams or the league’s executives. Either way, that’s a wild claim to make before the start of the semifinals.
The Fever will be back in action Sunday afternoon for Game 1 of their series with the Las Vegas Aces.
The Aces are significant favorites heading into this series. We’ll see if the Fever have a bit more playoff magic left in them.
