Nearly a week after Jimmy Kimmel Live was put on indefinite hiatus due to host Jimmy Kimmel’s comments about the murder of Charlie Kirk, ABC has announced that the show will return to air today, September 23.

Almost a week after production on Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended indefinitely following host Jimmy Kimmel’s comments on the Charlie Kirk murder, ABC has announced that the show will return to air Tuesday, Sept. 23.

“Last Wednesday, we made the decision to suspend production on the show to avoid further inflaming a tense situation at an emotional moment for our country,” ABC’s parent company Disney said in a statement. “It is a decision we made because we felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitive.”

“We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday.”
