F1 fans reacted to Lewis Hamilton asking Lando Norris about McLaren’s questionable strategy after winning the 2024 F1 British GP. The two drivers discussed which tire was faster in the cooldown room.

The British GP was an exciting race especially because of the close racing at the front and the unpredictable weather forcing teams to come up with creative strategies. Max Verstappen, George Russell, Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton competed for the race victory.

In the latter stages of the race, the sun started to shine down on the Silverstone track. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen quickly pitted for slick tires as the track dried. Meanwhile, McLaren kept Lando Norris out on inters and called him several laps later. While Verstappen was on hard and Hamilton was on medium tires, McLaren fitted soft tires on Norris’s car.

Since the soft tires degraded extremely quickly, the Brit was unable to challenge Verstappen and Hamilton, who eventually secured P2 and P1, respectively.

In the cooldown room after the British GP, Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris talked about McLaren’s tires. Hamilton mentioned to Norris that he knew McLaren had medium tires for the latter, yet decided to fit soft tires for the last stint. The seven-time world champion concluded that medium tires would have been faster.

Many fans reacted to their conversation in the cooldown room and several noted how Lewis Hamilton directly asked Lando Norris about medium tires. Some also stated that McLaren have not yet improved their strategy calls even though they are a top team now.

Some fans observed Max Verstappen’s quiet reaction to the conversation between Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris. They captured how the reigning world champion was also shocked and silent after hearing that McLaren had medium tires for Lando Norris.

Lando Norris blames himself for wrong decisions after losing out on British GP win to Lewis Hamilton

Lando Norris blamed himself for making wrong decisions that cost him a race win at the 2024 F1 British Grand Prix. He placed the burden on himself at the press conference held after the race.

However, he also expressed his happiness at having placed in the top three in his home event, even if he had made mistakes during the race.

“I don’t know. I mean, I’m not making the right decisions, you know. At the same time, I blame myself today for not making some of the right decisions. I hate it. I hate ending in this position and forever having excuses for not doing a good enough job. But I’m so happy. I’m still going to enjoy it,”

“I think we still did so many things right. So many positives. But especially here in Silverstone, the one place I would love everything to go perfectly, it didn’t today. But I’m good. We’ll come back stronger next year and try again,” Norris said.

After the British GP, Max Verstappen continues to extend his lead in the drivers’ championship with 255 points. Lando Norris is in second place with 171 while British GP winner Lewis Hamilton is still in eighth with 110.
